Q: What do I need to do to get started?

A: All you need to do to get started is to drop by the Manitoba Metis Federation with your Social Insurance Number.  We don't need your card but we do need the number.  After a short registration (5 minutes), we will be all set to help you with whatever service you require!

Q: Can you help me find a Summer Employment?

A: Yes, we can!  Our Career Councellor has plenty of information about Summer programs (such as STEP & FSWEP) for students.  We can help you through the application / registration process to increase your chances of success.

Our project officer also offers Summer Career placement projects.  These projects run throughout summer and provide many people with full-time summer employment at no cost to the employer.  If you know where you would like to work during the summer then contact Terry McKellep regarding a Summer Career Placement.

Summer Career Placement
This is a youth employment plan, which was developed to provide students with work experience and resources necessary for entry into today’s labor force.  This program encourages community partners to assist youth with obtaining work experience and insight of the labor force, along with required job related skills associated to their future occupational goals. 
 
Q: How will you help me find and maintain long-term employment?

A: Our project officer offers many different types of projects that will help you find employment and gain the skills you need to maintain that employment.  The programs offered by our project officer are ‘Job Opportunities’, ‘Target Wage Subsidy’, and ‘Project Based Training’.

Job Opportunities
This is a labor market program designed to provide unemployed individuals with the prospect of gaining valuable work experience.

Target Wage Subsidy
This program assists unemployed individuals who are experiencing difficulty finding work because of different factors such as; lack of experience and being out of the workforce for an extended period of time.  The goal is to obtain and maintain long-term employment.

Project Based Training
This is a labor market program designed to encourage partnerships with industry and institution to deliver specific training activities which meet current labor market demands.

Q: I haven't updated my resume in years, can you help me?

A: Yes, we can!  Our Service Needs & Determination Clerk has all the necessary knowledge and skills to make your resume look like one of the best.  If you would like help with your resume bring in your old resume and any information you can provide in regards to your past employment, volunteering, certificates, education, etc..  The more information we can pack into your resume, the better!

Q: I went to an interview for a job but I got too nervous and flubbed it, can you help?

A: We can help you with inteview tips in order to make sure you aren't nervous during your next interview.  We will practice with mock interviews to make sure you are able to use all the skills we discussed.
