Message from the Vice-President, Judy Mayer,
Greetings and Welcome,

Firstly, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all that voted for my re-election as your Vice-President for The Pas Region.

As I stated at our last Regional Meeting, The Pas is one of the strongest Regions in Manitoba and we proved that at the polls. I will continue working for the betterment of our Region and our Membership, and ensure our voices are heard.

The Manitoba Metis Federation were honoured to inaugurate the new Manitoba Metis Federation executive at a prestigious ceremony on May 4th, 2003 held at the Clarion Hotel on Portage Avenue. MMF President David Chartrand, the Vice Presidents and the new Board of Directors were inaugurated for a three-year term.

The executive of The Pas Region have been appointed to our Portfolios, Joyce Langan, is the Chair for Housing, Laura Hyrich, is Chair of Pemmican Publications and Co-Chair of Louis Riel Institute. As for myself, I have been appointed Chair of Child & Family/ TSN and Co-Chair of Tripartite Self-Government Negotiations – for Children, Youth & Families.

We have a lot of work ahead of us. More Youth projects will be coming, such as more fiddle lessons, jigging, Local Youth initiatives. We encourage the Local Executives’ and your Youth to determine what they would like to see take place within your communities.
